Family and Cake Smash Session, Clayton, CA
I understand how stressful it can be
when your long-time photographer moves away. It can be hard to trust someone
new, so I was so appreciative to be chosen to celebrate birthday boy Devan,
with some beautiful family photos and a cake smash.
Devan, his big sister Bailey, and mom
and dad joined me for the golden hour in Clayton, CA for a beautiful outdoor
session. “The golden hour” (within two hours of sunset) is a beautiful time of
day to take photos, and it created the perfect backdrop for this session. Doing
photo sessions at this time of day helps to separate subjects from their
background which creates a beautiful rim light behind them. This gives a nice
warm feel to their images, which I love.
This session was so much fun- we did
both loving family moments and photos of the kiddos. I loved how sweet Bailey
was her baby brother. Big sis brought her own camera as well and snapped photos
right along with me. I know we all enjoyed the part of the session when we
finally brought out the cake for Devan. He dove straight into it and couldn’t
get the cake into his mouth fast enough! I love how he pulled the topper off
the cake so he could really get to
the good stuff.
Outdoor photo sessions provide so
many fantastic options for photos of family, kids, and of course, eating cake!
Devan’s 1st birthday photos were particularly sweet as mom
hand-painted the number 1 that was included in the session- I love it when
there is this additional personal touch to look back on.
